My teacher asked us, "If you had the chance, would you travel to Mars?" I did not raise my hand. Why?
Time
She told us that on average, it takes 3 years to get there! (That's a minimum of 6 years of your life you would have to dedicate to this trip!) No, thank you.
Psychological Reasons
I would have to be in a spacecraft with the same people for 6 years straight -_- There aren't many people I can stand to be around for a couple of hours, let alone a few minutes. There's no way I could do that to myself or them. Also, I get antsy easily. I'm sure I would be extremely bored and go into depression or something.
Other random things I learned that day...
- The guest lecturer told us that the toilet on the spacecraft costs $19 million. (If you're a female, you have to buy an adapter to hook up to the hose for urinating.)
- It costs about $5,000 per pound of weight deployed. (The urine goes into the tube because the water from it is recycled.)

Would you go to Mars if you had the chance?
